We turn unwanted laptops into free, ready-to-use computers for people who can't get online, and we stay alongside them with training, connectivity and support.
Millions of people in the UK can't get online. Millions of laptops sit unused.
Without a laptop, it's hard to apply for jobs, keep up at school or college, manage benefits, see a GP or stay in touch with family. Digital exclusion hits hardest those already facing barriers: care leavers, older people, disabled people, refugees, survivors of domestic abuse and families on low incomes.
Around 1.7 million UK households have no laptop, tablet or desktop at all. Meanwhile, around 22 million unused laptops and tablets sit in UK homes. We bring the two together.
We make technology accessible for everyone, while preventing e‑waste.
Tech‑Takeback Foundation collects unwanted laptops, refurbishes them, purpose builds them, and rehomes them to people facing barriers to the digital world. We work closely with charities, local authorities, businesses and community groups to make sure every device goes where it can have the greatest impact.
Our circular approach means your old tech stays in use, out of landfill, and in the hands of someone whose life it can change.
How it works
Five simple steps to digital inclusion.
Rebuild
Every laptop is rebuilt around the person receiving it, from accessibility settings to language tools.
Rehome
We offer digital skills training and, where needed, internet access, so people can use their laptop with confidence.
Support
Measure
We check in at six months and report the social and environmental impact to our partners.
We collect working laptops from businesses and organisations in our electric van, tracking every device.
Collect
Laptops go free of charge to people referred by support workers, charities and councils, or who apply themselves.
